Wow, has this forum died a slow and quiet death?

Maybe the troll had a purpose after all? :?

BigT, it was singular as in 'TROLL'. You have a point, as it seems energies were sapped authenticating the trolls identity, but as i said to Andrew In Auckland, there are only a couple prepared to initiate a topic, others prefer to be reactive and either attack it, or ignore it if it does not agree with their thoughts

But you are right, its kaput!!

Jolli

Maybe it's just the season for lack of effort on the forum front. The end of another long year of crossing swords with a fictitious multi-persona creep. Lack of trust in any newcomer on the block underpins the dearth of contributions.

I contemplated starting a thread on the laughable episode around the politically incorrect CD played at Falcon Security's Christmas do at Sun City. Has anyone commented on the continuing Reitz hostel comedy?

I leave for SA - for 3 weeks - at the end of this week  so I'll be able to post with renewed first-hand knowledge of South African society.

Mthinks part of the reason this forum is receiving so little traffic is that it is easy to post one's little comments on each and every bit of news on the iafrica newspages. I find that what I have to say usually takes no more than a few sentences, and then I'm done. The idea that I might cut 'n paste that to here seems tedious given that the response is pretty predictable... wait, let me back up. I don't mean your responses are predictable, I mean that SA society has become predictable!

The bottom line is that the larger majority of voters don't have the wherewithall to hold those that voted for accountable for anything! This makes it a free ride for those who hold positions in government. It is only the media, opposition and law who can hold them accountable (though not necessarily in that order)

Instead of more of the same of SA getting onto it's feet (feat) and showing the world how great this country ought to be, it's become a mind-numbing routine of corruption trials and mismanagement.

Who wants to write (or read) about that everyday? The ANC government is a government by default. They don't deserve anything (and neither do the people who voted for them)

When I started reading that stanza it did occur to me that - given what I've been lectured on by others - you were digging a bit of a hole for yourself...

Seriously though, your closing observation (about those who voted ANC deserving what they've got) is, unfortunately, sadly true. If a people (mindless ANC voter-fodder are a people) allow themselves to be misused then they have only themselves to blame

Buuuuut. That's like saying it's the snails fault for riding too high up the wall and getting picked off by a pigeon. My point is that the snail is oblivious to the comings, goings and diet of pigeons, even worse, the snail is oblivious to the existence of pigeons! Now that's where my analogy falls flat... or maybe it doesn't. Judging by the goings on in this country, it is clear that the voting fodder have no more intelligence than a snail.

All comes down to quantity vs quality.

Commenting on all articles is a great feature and definetly affects the forum. The fact we keep re-hashing the same crap our useless politicians get into doesn't help ;) That said despite the common general thoughts on most subjects, I still get the odd gem that makes me think...

Just list so many things is SA this forum she is not werking.

Who the hell administers this site to the extent that days go by without anything being done about the errors when trying to view, review, and submit posts?

Has this site become a reflection of what SA has become?

It certainly looks like it BigT, and perhaps if the forum mirrors the greater SA context, then the country is in dire straits!

Just the other day I posted a reply to one of the news features, possible one of those about Eishkom, but since the iafrica people tend to delete and repost stories and seeing as I was able to succinctly express what I had for so long been wanted to say, I saved it on my own computer. Food for thought:

I wrote:
Everyone knows that it's ok to be a race-advocate if you are black, while currently one is practically required to be an apologist (if you're) white - at least publicly. Ironically, while whites celebrate their achievements in private and continue to be outstanding people, blacks are being shown up at every turn.
